I was commissioned by OneKind to make a short film which would raise awareness for their seal protection campaign.

The film took around 3 months to create from storyboards to final film. The project allowed me to create a film digitally whilst keeping it looking hand-painted in style. Every image was animated quite roughly, then coloured by hand to create the brushstrokes and dappled lighting effect. Lighting effects were then added in over the top.

To top it off, it was voiced by the wonderful late Richard Briers.

The aim of the film is to gather as many names as possible to push the Scottish Government into reviewing the legislation and increase protection for these beautiful animals. In 2020 the Scottish Parliament finally banned the shooting of seals by the fisheries industry.  It wasn’t all down to this animation, but I’m chuffed to have played a part.
